Finally, an update!!

I finally did it! I buckled down and blogged about what we have been doing this last month. I would have done it sooner but every time I get some time it is during Aspyn's nap time and when I put her down I usually like to try and take a nap too. So, that's why I have been slacking. But I have made up for it in all the post I have done today!! Enjoy!!

Drumroll Please....

We had our big ultrasound last Friday and we know what we are having!! Despite what Aspyn thinks she is getting a little Sister!! We are so excited to have another girl and can't wait to see her. She is such a little mover. During the ultrasound she put on a little show for us moving all over the place, kicking her legs, trying to get her thumb in her mouth (she was a little off and we could see her trying to suck but her thumb we up by her nose), and just generally moving all over the place. We actually only got a quick glimpse that she was a girl but the tech. said she saw it so we are happy with that. Here are a few pictures we got of her, they aren't the best because they are pictures of pictures but that's okay. Here you can see her hand really well. This is the picture of her trying to suck her thumb We got some got pictures of her despite her moving so much.

Washington D.C.

For Fall Break we decided to go to Washington D.C. for our 5th Anniversary. We were able to drop Aspyn off at my sister's house in Delaware to spend a couple of days with her cousins and she had a blast. We had so much fun and it was such a nice break. We did so much, went and saw the capitol and supreme court building, went to the Library of Congress, three Smithsonian museums (Air and Space, Natural History, and American History), walked down to the White House, saw the momuments at night, and then to finish off the trip we went and did a session at the beautiful Washington D.C. Temple. Again, we had so much fun!! I can't wait to go back again and see more. We took so many pictures I just decided to put them in a slide show (this is just a few of the good ones.)

Halloween!!

Halloween was a lot of fun this year because we finally got Aspyn to understand the holiday. We went to our wards chili cook-off/truck or treat and then came home and carved our pumpkins. Aspyn loved dressing up and loved getting candy even moreShe started "flying" around the room the minute I put her wings on. She was so funny.
She wanted me to take a shot of her wings.
This is the face she gave me when I said to smile like Tinkerbell. Super Cute!!
Here is one more good shot that I got of her. It took me a while to get her to stop flying around the room to take this.
Carving pumpkins with Daddy.
Here is Aspyn "helping" draw a face on the pumpkin. She kept telling Daddy that she wanted the pumpkin to have a funny face.
The finished product.
Aspyn wanted her picture taken by the pumpkins.

Happy Birthday!!

In October, Josh had a Birthday!! He now feels very old. I had a hard time trying to tell Aspyn that it was Daddy's birthday, not hers. She sang Happy Birthday all day and loved when I let her call Daddy on the phone to tell him Happy Birthday. He had a great Birthday.

State Parks

We took a couple of Saturdays to explore some of the sites that are close to us. The first one was Princeton Battlefield. There was a really important battle that was fought here during the revolutionary war that I would go into more detail but I don't want to bore all you out there. If your interested all you have to do is google it. It was really pretty and so we got some great pictures of the colored leaves and Aspyn running around.
This is the house that was on the property during the battle that was used as a hospital for both the Americans and the British.
Aspyn in front of a marker telling about a General the died during the battle. There are a lot of things around here that named after him.
A shot of the battlefield
Another shot of the battlefield.
These columns have been moved three times (originally from Philadelphia) and now stand in front of the grave where several soldiers are buried.
Aspyn and Josh standing on the steps. Aspyn loved going up and down the steps and we passed it the other day and she saw it wanted to go up the steps again.
Here is the grave marker. The next weekend we went to a place called Rockingham. It is the house that George Washington was staying when he found out the war was over. We learned so much there, very interesting place to visit just not too kid friendly. Aspyn did great but we probably wouldn't take her there again. I couldn't take any pictures inside so I just got a couple of the outside. We saw this guy on our way there on the side of the road eating. We stopped to take pictures of him and he looked up at me while I took them, didn't move at all the whole time. Rockingham, the house. Aspyn outside in the rain. She saw me taking pictures and wanted one of her taken. She had fun once we got out jumping in the puddles.

Carnegie Lake

Last Saturday we went to Carnegie Lake. It was very pretty and we (meaning me) took a lot of pictures so I thought I would just put them in a slide show for you to see. Somethings about it are the fact that you never see any ducks in New Jersey, only geese (and they are really loud geese), this is the trail that Josh takes when he rides his bike to school, very pretty ride, and Aspyn spent most of time throwing rocks and sticks into the water and riding daddy like a horse (she is also on a skirt kick and we have a hard time getting her to wear pants these days). So, here are the pictures, enjoy the beauty of New Jersey!

Before the move!!

Here are some pictures that I found on my camera that are pretty cute. I meant to blog about them before we moved but just got too busy!! So, here they are now.
Here is Aspyn and her cousin Maddie at my little brother homecoming. They had the same dress on so we had to take pictures of them.
This was one day this summer after we come home from swimming. Josh was making chili mac while I was showering and Aspyn was "helping". She helped herself right into the chili can.
In this picture you can see her dirty fast and hand a little better. She really likes her chili!
We had family pictures on my side of the family a couple of weeks before we moved. We went down to my sisters so that I could get my hair down and Aspyn was feeling a little left out. So my niece put curlers in her hair and put her under the dryer.
She loved them so much!! She actually cried when we took them out of her hair. She thought she looked pretty good with them in!!
Here is the after, she doesn't quite have enough her to get it to work well with the curler in quite yet. Maybe someday!!

Farm Country!!

While Josh was driving across the country on his way to New Jersey, Aspyn and I spent a couple of days with my parents before we flew out. My parents decided to spoil her a little bit and took her to Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point. Anyone that knows Aspyn knows that she was in Heaven. She loves animals and loves to be up close and personal with them. She had a blast. Here are some pictures from that adventure.
Here she is milking a "cow" (not a real cow).
This is her saying hi to the goats.
She loved being able to feed the animals.
She would laugh every time they ate out of her hand.
She really loved watching all of the animals.
Here is one of her favorite animals, ducks.
She loved playing in the little houses they had there, probably because they were just her size.
Aspyn in Jail!!
Her favorite part of the whole thing was hands down the horse ride. She was begging to get on the horse the minute she saw them. I was able to hold her off until the end.
This was such a cute picture of her, she really loved riding the horse. She would reach down and pet it and it went around, it was pretty cute.

The Move!!

We decided that instead of driving across the country with a two-year old who would have thought it was fun for about 2 hours, that Aspyn and I would fly while Josh drove all of our stuff. Luckily he had some help. Thanks to Jon and Elliot for driving with Josh and to Emily and Jessica for giving up their husbands for us!! Here are some of their pictures from the trip.
They saw a lot of this...
Did a lot of this...
and a lot of this...
Saw some other great views...
Drove through 9 states...
Spent a night with their cousin/brother in Ohio...
did some more of this...
hit the east where it's a little more green...
Unloaded the truck in a couple of hours...
Celebrated by going to Applebee's...
and put together our apartment...
Lucky for me this is not what it looked like when I showed up...
And had a beard growing contest over the week!

Our New Apartment!!

Finally, here our pictures of our new apartment all put together!! A BIG Thank You to Jon and Elliot for helping Josh put a lot of it together before Aspyn and I even got here. It was very nice not to have to empty so many boxes. There are still some things we are trying to get use to such as not having any overhead lighting in the living room and bedrooms, having the fan come on every time you turn the light on in the bathroom, and having an extremely small kitchen. We had a huge kitchen in Logan and are trying to adjust to this one.
Here is half of our living room from our patio door.
Here is the other half of the living room.
Here is the dining room/office (it's the only place we could fit the desk).
Here is our really small kitchen. We still have food in a box because we have no where to put it, one of these days we will buy something to put it in so we can stop digging in the box to find things.
Here is Aspyn's room. It's nice to be able to put all her toys and books in there even if most of them end up in the living room most days.
This is Aspyn's "new" duckie bathroom (that's what she likes to call it). She actually calls everything new now, new bed, new chair, everything apparently is new. At least she hasn't called us new mommy and daddy.
Here is the Master bedroom. It's a little bit bigger than the one we use to have but not by much.
At least we have our own bathroom now. Although it's not that great when you have to clean two bathrooms.
This is our walk-in closet/laundry room. This was something we weren't expecting and our having to adjust somewhat. Also, since it's a stacking washing and dryer I have had to adjust to doing wash more often.

5 Years!!

I know, I have a lot to post about, the move, our new house, and a lot of other things that I promise I will get to. But today I am just going to post about our 5 years together!! I can't believe it's been that long. Here are a couple of pictures from that day.
Looking back 5 years ago I never thought that we would be where we are now. Living in New Jersey, going to Princeton, and working on a doctorate!! It's crazy where life has taken us this past 5 years. I am so grateful to have married Josh and taken this journey with him. It's been a great ride!

Blog Overload!!

I have been neglecting our blog. Mainly because we have been really busy doing things that we want to get done before we move clear across the country and because the more we did the more pictures we had to blog about and I started to dread it. So I buckled down today and got it all done. We still have a lot more in the next few weeks before we move so hopefully I won't slack and post those before it's been too long. Enjoy the numerous post that I did today!

Bear Lake

The weekend after we went to the cabin we went camping in Bear Lake. Brandon's family (my brother-in-law) was having their family reunion up there and they had an extra campsite that they let us use. We went up there Friday night and came back Saturday afternoon. Aspyn had a lot of fun in the tent but we probably won't go camping again until we can get another tent that has a separate room for her to sleep in!! Here is some of what we did while up there.
Here is Aspyn in the tent cheesing it up!
These next few pictures I am labeling "Camping through Aspyn's eyes" We let her take some pictures and she had a few good ones.
Our picnic area. (by Aspyn)
The Campground. (by Aspyn)
We went to rent a bike to ride around the town on but they were closed for the night so we went to the playground instead. Aspyn really loved riding this horsie.
And looking out the window of the little log cabin.
And making mommy hold her up to these monkey bars.
On Saturday we went to the beach and discovered that Aspyn was a little more OCD then we thought. She doesn't like to be dirty and that means that her shoes had to stay on because she wouldn't walk on the sand and she had to ride in this little boat because she didn't like how the waves were making the mud go into her shoes. She is really funny.
Here is Daddy doing what he did most of the day. Pushing Aspyn around on her boat. Luckily they had this thing otherwise we would have had a really short trip.
Then we got Brandon's little brother to get Aspyn playing in the sand. We had to document it because we couldn't believe she was doing it.
She actually got pretty dirty but she still would not take her shoes off or walk in the water.
Here she is by her sand castle she helped build.
Here is our family picture on the beach. We went to Bear Lake for our anniversary a couple of years ago and I decided to put that picture on too.
The only thing that's really change is how much Aspyn has grown! Well, that and it was a lot colder in this picture!
